RULES 2023
1) Requested entry fee for the 2023 pool is $25 per entry. $15 goes to the prize pool. $10 to charity. Checks should be made out to John P. Morgan, MD. Cash is accepted. All moneys collected will be distributed to the prize fund and to charity. The committee receives no compensation or financial remuneration for this entertaining and charitable endeavor. Additionally, all expenses in the institution, delivery, and completion of this pool, including print, time, software, web server, and mailing expenses are covered by benevolence.
2) Additional charitable contributions are encouraged. If you desire a record of your contribution please make out an additional check (aside from the entry of $25) payable directly to the charity of your choice below. It will be forwarded accordingly. Otherwise, just add some additional funds with your entry check! You will be recognized!

4) Enter as often as you wish via WEB SITE ENTRY at GaryGurtcheff.com. Post your name and requested demographics carefully. Fill out all information. For multiple entries, make a separate name for each entry. The web site will be open to accept entrees sometime after the brackets have been announced Sunday evening, March 12th. You must enter prior to the first game on Thursday morning, March 16th. The play-in games do not factor in regards to the deadline. Thereafter the pool is closed. We cannot add entrees after the Thursday games begin. Also, DO NOT WAIT until the last minute to enter. The server may not be able to accommodate your last minute entries due to increased internet traffic and we cannot micromanage the entries.

Text me if you are paying by online option with your entry names and how much you are sending please! jpmorganmd@aol.com AND jpmorganmd@mac.com. Also when paying and mailing a check, add the entry names you are paying for. Important!!
6) Fill in each bracket (your predicted winner) for each game of each round, out through to the finals. Make certain each line is filled in. You must include the winner of every game, including the championship game. There is NO formal tiebreaker (points or otherwise).
7) Points are accumulated for each correctly picked victory by multiplying the team's seed by the round value (1,2,4,8,16, and 32) for rounds 1 through 6 respectively.
Round Values: 1st......1 2nd......2 3rd……4 4th…..8 5th……16 Final....32
Scoring is cumulative. You are rewarded for picking the upsets.
Scoring Examples:
1. You predicted correctly that a second-seeded team would beat a seventh-seeded
team in the second round. 4 points are awarded.
2. You predicted correctly that a thirteenth-seeded team would beat a first-seeded
team in the third round. 52 points are awarded.
3. You predicted correctly that a sixth-seeded team would win the finals. 192 points
are awarded.
4. You predicted INCORRECTLY that a ninth-seeded team would beat an eight-seed
in the first round. No points are awarded.
8) Updates and current standings will be posted on the web site
(WWW.GARYGURTCHEFF.COM).
All information will be available and updated periodically (website or through e-mail).
9) All decisions of the tournament committee are final. For questions regarding the tournament in general, donations, charities, or general comments, call 812-306-7447. Make sure you list a phone number to be contacted if necessary. And your address in full for winning checks to be mailed.
If you pay for anyone other than yourself, write a note stating whom
you are paying for and their entry name(s). For your own entrees, unless it is obvious that your entry name(s) is indeed your name, write on the check or a separate note, what entrees you are paying for.
If you enter more than once, use a separate entry name for each entry!!!
